Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating Review

Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating

I’ve been using Turtle Wax products for years now, but never had the chance to try their Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray. So I decided to pick one up to do a review on it and put it to the test against the best ceramics on our website. This is undoubtedly one of Turtle Wax’s most popular products- and you can see it from the “#1 best seller” ranking it has on Amazon within the Car Waxes category (at the time of writing this article.) Even for a massive brand like Turtle Wax, it’s no small achievement to take the #1 ranking on Amazon. But does that mean it’s the best? Let’s find out.

What is Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray?

Turtle wax has been around in the automotive detailing industry since the 1940s, making it one of the oldest companies in the industry. They started manufacturing carnauba wax as their initial product and then built themselves into a massive brand by offering an extensive line of car care products. Their Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating stands as a modern innovation in car care, designed to provide an advanced protective layer for your vehicle’s exterior.

This product contains ceramic technology with a SiO2 formula mixed with synthetic wax polymers, offering an easy-to-use spray. It promises a glossy finish, enhancing the overall appearance while extending the longevity of your vehicle’s pristine shine.

To provide context and help you grasp the positioning of this product, I’ll give you a brief overview of their product lines. Currently, they offer a total of four lines of wax products.

1. Green bottles (wax and dry): which are their cheapest but don’t last very long.

2. Ice Line: which includes the Ice Spray Wax among other products.

3. Hybrid Solutions: it includes the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions and this line has ceramic SiO2 (silicon dioxide) in them.

4. Their fourth line, the Hybrid Solution Pro is featured among their top products: Frankly, it’s not my favorite and stands as the most expensive line. As you may know, the best products aren’t always the ones that the brand puts forward as their “top” product. Definitely a solid 9 in value when looking at my top 10 list.

Is this a Wax or a Ceramic?

The Hybrid Solution Ceramic Spray Coat is not a genuine ceramic coat. Instead, it incorporates suspended nanoparticles of ceramic, offering some ceramic properties. However, the limited amount of ceramic in each bottle means you won’t experience the full benefits of a regular ceramic coating. Similar to other waxes, it is easy to apply. But, it doesn’t last very long and the hydrophobic properties are lackluster, which makes sense considering its budget-friendly price, around 15$. Because of this, it may be best to use it as a quick refresher between full wax applications.

Overall I would give it a 7 for longevity. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t buy it, but if you’re looking for a ceramic that will last longer look for a true ceramic.

How Strong Turtle Wax Hybrid Solution is?

This product unfortunately contains only traces of ceramic so it won’t be at its full strength. Ceramics last longer because they adhere directly to your car’s paint, while wax sits on top of the paint. Additionally, this product doesn’t have a high percentage of SiO2 like Nexgen has, making wax the main ingredient. When it comes to overall strength, I’d rate this one an 8. It’s worth noting that as a wax, it’s stronger than many others available in the market.

Pros:

– Enhances shine

– Stronger than other waxes

Cons:

– Collects dust and other contaminants faster than a ceramic does

– Not as strong as ceramic

– Doesn’t last very long

Customer Service

I’ve called customer service for Turtle Wax in the past and was not impressed. While researching this product I reached back out, and I have to say, not much has changed there. When I reached out to their customer service and inquired about details like the SiO2 percentage in their product and why they emphasize ceramic coating when it’s mostly synthetic wax, the person I spoke to, while trying to help, didn’t seem very knowledgeable about the product, to be honest. I’d rate their customer service a 7.

Conclusion

From my years of using Turtle Wax products, I was excited to try their Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating. Marketed as an advanced protective layer within Turtle Wax’s lineup, this spray proclaimed a blend of SiO2 technology and synthetic wax polymers, promising both a glossy finish and fortified protection for my vehicle. However, despite its ceramic elements, it didn’t quite live up to being a true ceramic coat. Instead, it is an excellent handy maintenance tool you can use to fill the gaps between full wax applications.

Surprisingly, its endurance surpassed my expectations, earning it an 8 in strength, despite its modest ceramic content. Yet, its hybrid nature presented trade-offs. While user-friendly and wallet-friendly, it lacked the lifespan of a high ceramic coating product.

If you’re seeking an affordable yet moderately durable protective layer, the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating is a good option. Its ease of use and price point make it an attractive choice for routine upkeep. But if you, like me, prioritize longevity or crave clearer product information, exploring true ceramic options might be more worthwhile.
